					  Whenever I am in Barcaldine (which is a couple of times a year) I make a bee line to the Iron Bark restaurant with its distinctive breezy outdoor shed, its... read more corners dotted with historic photos and memorabilia. The food is the real deal - steaks and roasts and lamb shanks with a tasty range of vegetables and salads. Nothing fancy just great 'home styled' pub grub (yes, I know that sounds like a contradiction) which leaves the visiting diner satisfied. There's cold beer and cold wines (yes red and whites are both in the refrigerator because in summer it gets very hot in western Qld). This is for the traveller looking for something 'dinky die' in outback Queensland.

This was not on the menu, but the good man on the tools at the Ironbark Inn, Barcaldine, was more than happy to whip it up for me... I nominate Colin for Queenslander of the Year.
